SEA SHELTER HOUSE
Our latest project in development for construction. Set on a steep sloping site in a cape coastal town, this holiday home for the client required a secure lock up and go with two bedroom units overlooking the sea.
Independent units allow for rentals and privacy . The concept of a shelter cabin was developed , perched on columns and suspended above the site.
The form was informed by the archetypal coastal fishing hut with its humble yet practical appearance.A share courtyard allows circulation and interaction between the two 'huts'.
Completion date early 2019.
TWO HOUSE EDITION
The project for two brothers involved creating a new building and extending the original 100 year old house in central Capetown.
The design language had to link the old and the new while establishing a new form and order.
The old house was given a extended concrete deck and entertainment area taking advantage of the superb view from the site.
The adjacent 'move house',so named after the athlete owner required a flexible top area for possible film shoots.
NOTE: see more detailed images of MOVE HOUSE in the WORK section
A unique house in the dry Gauteng region of South Africa . The brief was for a client in the information technology industry and required a home that could also be used as an office / showroom for clients to visit . Ample parking and secure internal shutters behind all the windows forms part of the design while still allowing lots of light into the internal spaces . The dusty color on the house and window frames reflects the surrounding earth and natural context . The house attempts to blend into the site with minimal visual accent through its simple forms and natural single color . The large front window from the office showroom allows elevated views across the escarpment.
A prefabricated steel / timber frame and cladding concept house . The house is placed on stilts and is aimed at sites such as a hanging rock cliff or soft dunes as is often found along Cape coastal towns of South Africa.
NOTE : This design is under developrment and more detailed images will soon be uploaded.
We take care to custom design most of the interiors and furniture in our projects . A modern minimal slant and sense of mood is a consistent theme , as is high quality materials of natural origin wherever possible.
CLIFTON BUNGALOW INTERIOR
The clifton 2nd beach bungalow is a contemporary take on the beach style cabin with simple shapes and calm frontages.Clifton has strict restrictions on height and style so we tried to create a lively building within the area limitations,
The horizontal theme runs throughout the house even on the ceilings in order to simplify the form and living experience.
A theme of flowing movement much like the nearby ocean presents itself here. The bedroom are luxury suites with sea view showers that connects back to the beach living set up.
Plunge pool and Jacuzzi compete the deck experience with outdoor shower and beach access via the stairs.
